1. Earn the Photography IPP. Taking photos correctly is important in scrapbooking. Photographs create memories. Learn the basics of photography by earning this IPP.
2. Acid free materials are very important in scrapbooking. Learn why acid free materials are important and how they help keep pictures preserved.
3. Learn what cropping is. What tools can be used to crop a photo? Crop a photo using a template or cutter.
4. What is a layout? What are three important tips in designing a layout? Look thru magazines and other albums to get ideas for layouts. Design at least three different layouts for your pictures before you begin to scrapbook. Use stencils, stamps, letters and picture frames in your layouts.
5. Learn the basics of journaling. Why it is important? What is journaling used for in scrapbooking? What could be used for journaling? Practice by journaling a picture.
6. Try at least three different ways to Scrapbook (albums, gift tags, gift bags, cards, book marks).
7. Embellishments are important to scrapbooking. They can make your pages interesting. Name five different types of embellishments and what they are used for. Learn how to use them but not overuse them.
Technology
1. Explore the different tools used for scrapbooking. Be able to explain and demonstrate at least three of these tools.
2. Go to a craft store and learn how the different machines work for scrapbooking (i.e. Sizzex, die-cuts, punches)
3. Organization is very important in scrapbooking. Explore the many options for storing your scrapbook materials. (i.e. rolling suitcase, organizers, crop cases). Design your own scrapbooking organizer.
4. Learn about online photo editing tools (i.e. www.picasa.com) photo sharing websites (i.e.Yahoo, www.snapfish.com), Clipart and electronic scrapbooking.
Service Projects
1. Make a scrapbook for a facility (nursing home, adult home, school). Residents usually enjoy seeing themselves in pictures. Try to include their family members if possible.
2. Make cards and donate to an organization (nursing home, school, shelter).
3. Teach younger girls to scrapbook. Hold a workshop or "crop night" for Brownies or Juniors and teach them the basics of scrapbooking.
Career Explorations
1. Visit a Scrapbook store and speak to the owner. Ask questions regarding the newest products used for scrapbooking
2. Interview a person that scrapbooks for a living and ask her about her career.
3. Visit a store that sells crafts and scrapbook supplies. Talk to a sales representative.
